    Hi

I am in the process of purchasing some Hidcoat Lavender.

When I shop around for 9cm pot size Hidcoat Lavender at the different garden centres the labels attached state different growth sizes. i.e. one is described as 45 cm whereas another at a different garden centre states 75cm. I presume these are the max sizes it can reach at full growth/maturity.

My question is that is it true that different hidcoat lavender from different places can vary in size so much? i.e. in this case 30 cm difference. Should I really go on the size stated on the label or am I reading too much into this and any Lavender Hidcoat with growing conditions all equal will grow to roughly the same size regardless i.e. 60 cm as google tells me?

As far as I know the two different hidcoat lavender mentioned in this post are not hybrids but the 45 cm had 'dwarf' written in its description but again I don't know whether I am reading too much into what the label says. I have tried googling but get a confusing mix of answers.

I just making sure as I want to plant the 'right' size Hidcoat lavender for the 'look' and space available to me.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum @NewYorkshireGardener2024
The label size is often misleading and turns out to be wrong in many cases. I bought shrubs saying 2x2 meters on the label, back home, I checked the internet, it says 4x4 meters which makes a huge difference imo.
Hidcote lavender is generally said around 50 to 60 cm high, but the flower stalks can be low or high. My rich clay soil produced stalks in a height of 1.2 meters and the lavender plant itself had fallen over.
