Hi. I used evergreen 4 in 1 2 weeks ago with mixed results. Inevitably I scorched the grass. Pictures attached. I scarified today after 2 weeks but any advice on what next? I have topsoil and grass seed at the ready for overseeding. Is it right to do this now, or is the practical advice to leave this for another 4-6 weeks due to the fertiliser preventing germination? Advice welcomed. On a side note I won’t be using 4in1 again - im sure it’s me, but just can’t get it to work with damaging the lawn.

    Hi

is it a weed and feed ? If yes with the weed part you need to wait a while before you can plant seed it will kill it

did you follow the advice how much to use and what setting have you cut the grass it looks a too low cut for May best high or middle not the low setting

While it’s still showing on the surface it’s best not to be walking ion it and letting the kids run around it will compact the treatment onto the soil and the grass will get burnt. Normally it says if it hasn’t rained for two or 3 days to water it in , did u do that ?

In the current drought scenario, I would wait until I could be assured of receipt of 75mm rain ,with the certainty of at least 50mm per month thenceforth. As no new reservoirs have been completed in the last 30 years, while the UK population has increased by at least 10 million, there is little to no water capacity for domestic amenity grass.

It is a weed and feed. I watered it regularly over the last 2 weeks. Only mowed it once, at 4 inches. Is that too low? I guess I’ll hold off with the reseeding and just give it some watering until the the weed and feed has dissipated.

Check with the manufacturer when you can sow seed , email they will be happy to help .

sorry, but the sward does look too short

just leave alone and check your mower height .. most people expect to be a miracle in days like my friend in work put it down on a Monday and expected the weeds to be dead and the grass greener lol by Friday of the same week

If your lawn had a lot of moss in it before you used the 4 in 1, it’s done its job. That’s how mine often looks after a treatment in spring when moss builds up over winter, followed by scarification. Give it six weeks before reseeding any bare patches, as advised in the instructions, and try to time this with any forthcoming rain.

Thanks! It does seem to have killed the weeds and moss, so I’ll give it 6 weeks as you said. Fingers crossed
