      Could well be!

Way back when, there were two different inches in Sweden. The one I mentioned previously. That had 10 lines (I'm translating) to an inch. This was considered to coarse, so to make it more accurate, it was changed to being 12 "lines" per inch. At the same time, an inch was shortened to 24,741mm...thus proving the old imperial system with a base of 12 to be more accurate that the metric system which has a base of 10...

Measuring an inch in Sweden should be different to that of the UK as time contraction affects the result because of different rotation speeds. :old: :ideaIPB:  :yikes:

Door furniture mostly installed today - just waiting for Wickes to deliver the t&g.

Today's top tip - if you have two gates - screw a spare piece of timber across the bottom and top of each gate. This keeps them in line and allows the timber to ease into the correct shape. After a couple of days take off the timber and the gates will stay straight/aligned.

              Plus keeps visitors away. :dbgrtmb:

I keep a padlock and chain in my front room, and when I see 'lucky heather'/etc. sellers, religious types, etc. coming I chain my front gate and wait indoors for them to try and get in my front garden.

This, near our front door, keeps the 'lucky heather' sellers away from us. :heehee:

Other half installed today - to finish off - matching handle on the left side; loop for lower slide bolt and strip of wood down the centre to hide gap between both doors. Can't get the strip of wood yet - I'm only going out for food - nothing else:

I would have opted for rebated meeting stiles, having the necessary plane (useful for replacing external doors with water bars).

I've no idea what rebated meeting stiles are - I'm just an over enthusiastic diy'er - with basic tools . I was 'coerced' into installing the front garden picket fencing - gate - arch - because the bloke who was going to do it never turned up. He said to me - "110% yes I will be here this Sunday" - that was 6 or 7 years ago. It's not that difficult when you have a go yourself.

Most invaluable tool - a post spirit level - 99p from Screwfix - get the posts straight and everything else just falls into place .
