    Very true, it's only worthwhile for a reasonable amount, so for membership subscriptions of say £30 upwards it's very worthwhile. But not when rattling tins on the high street :)

      I damaged two tyres some time ago in a pothole.
      RAC made me pay extra to take my car to my local garage as it was a couple of miles further than my cover allowed.

      They made me give my card details over the phone, and charged me an extra £20 or so.
      Worst part was they kept me hanging on for ages and my pay as you go phone was fast running out of credit.

      If it hadn't been for a decent bloke who came out to me, I would also have been abandoned at the garage and left to find my own way home at 10pm.

      I did have a slightly better experience of the RAC when my battery died on me, the bloke came out and sold me a new one, only cost me about a hundred that time, but he did arrive fast.
