Just bought a lovely red Acer at Asda. It is well potted in a 3 litre pot and is about 2 feet tall. Is it OK to plant out into the semi shady garden spot now , or is it better to pot up into a 10" pot and grow on for 12 months?

    TIA

I'd plant it out now. Assuming the weather is reasonable.

      Hi @HarryS ,

I agree with @NigelJ , however, if the weather isn't ok then just keep it in its pot somewhere sheltered until about a months time. There's no point disturbing the root system twice.

        Thanks Nigel and KFF,
I'll keep it in a sheltered spot for a few weeks, chilly forecast over the weekend. Then plant it out. :blue thumb:
