Allegedly, I sowed parsnip seeds in this area, albeit not in drills or anything, simply more randomly scattered.... it would seem that none have appeared, but before I go clearing this all out again and planting other things, I thought we could play spot the seedling!

A wee bit early to tell yet but I wouldn’t be planning on having roast Parsnips any time soon. I have had trouble with Parsnip germinating in the past so don’t think you are the only one! I understand Parsnip seeds have to be really fresh to be viable. Maybe your seed was more than a year old?
I sowed some Parsley a while back....zilch:scratch:. Then I spied this

If it is happy where it is so be it.

Seed was this year's, but sown just before that really hot spell kicked in which could well have knackered it I suppose. No matter, you win some, you lose some I suppose. I don't really want to have the area sitting dormant on a maybe, not least as it is the sunniest spot in the garden, so I will get it weeded and plant some other stuff out there I think.

Don't worry, that seed is just lying dormant waiting for you to sow something else, then they will both germinate together :blue thumb:, normally a millimetre or 2 apart :wallbanging:

Can't see any parsnips, can see lots of petty spurge.

My parsnips were hit and miss this year, there are big gaps in that bed.
