    Good morning,
Ive just brought my first home and would love to plant a wisteria on the front of my house. Looking for recommendations on whether to plant on the right or left side of the front door?

Good morning to you @Rebeccab35 and welcome to the forum.
Wisteria is a lovely plant when cared for properly, but needs a lot of looking after. My thoughts on the subject - for your house is not really which side of the door to put it, but whether to plant it there at all.
The eventual size of these is huge, and so is the root system, so much so that your footings and drains could be badly affected in time.
If you do plant one by the door, I would suggest that you do a bit of reading up on the subject first.
Maybe a nice Honeysuckle and climbing rose would fit the bill better :)

Personally, I dont think you have enough wall space, it will be over the windows in a few years.
A trellis or wires would be needed to fix it to.

Wisteria can be kept within certain bounds, but it's a twice a year pruning job.

Agree with the others rebeccab35 :)

Apart from its huge vigour it is not the most beautiful plant out of flower.

How about a clematis? A real beauty is viticella etoille violetta. Neat, long flowering and beautiful. Check it out
