Calling them Asian doesn't cut the mustard either :heehee:. There are a myriad of different cuisines in Asia and in most 'Indian' restaurants round here that don't object to you calling them Indian although they're nearly all Bangladeshi and it would be an insult to call them Indian if you were over there.

Even when I've been in places like Bhutan they still sometimes have the word curry on the menu. :blue thumb:

I was careful not to say 'Indian' cuisine because i didn't want to offend the indigenous north americans.
I rather liked 'Asian highly aromatic'
(Shall we go for a curry or an AHA)
It could even cover for a 'chinky'
Who doesn't like Nadia Hussain or Ken Hom and the little bird he often cooks with!
I'm sure they would laugh too at all this nonsense.

The strange thing is, only in the UK would be bother with this kind of rubbish, we are so scared of upsetting someone somewhere its getting impossible to know what to say or write sometimes in case someone takes offence.

Vesta packet meals, that brings back a few memories. Chinese Chow Mein with crispy noodles on top. Italian Risotto, I enjoyed them as a treat. Wonder if they still make them? Possibly get some old stock on Ebay, with best before date of 1968.

I'm somewhat puzzled why people are trying to categorize so many titles/names as insulting. This is not a woke issue as these people must be unconscious and it certainly is not a "cancel" culture as I believe you can in all practicality, truly only cancel things to come. It is some kind of eraser mentality.

Reminds me of those court room shows where the judge instructs the jury to disregard something that has been said! How does one do that?

Better watchit. Our First Nations wouldn't want to be accused of culture appropriation as their history shows zero use of hot spices! :heehee:

Actually the paper reporting it (an American one) said it was "a woke food blogger in California". :heehee:

                  That is so right!
"I saw the defendant running down the road with a machete"
The judge looks at the jury and says, 'disregard that comment'

As I've never had an Indian, Bangladeshi, Asian, Ti, Cu**y I dont find it a problem, I can avoid the word and just bung a bit of Curry powder in my next casserole I make.

Which is as close as I get.

That was my first thought! It's fair comment that Indian dishes do have individual, descriptive names, some of which are already in use, but can she come up with a better generic name?
