Osteospermum Perennial ?

Not grown Osteospermum , Cape Daisy for quite a few years . Not sure why as it's a lovely flower in full sun. The colour of one we bought today was a stunning coffee purple Now just done my usual Googling and it says they are perennial in our climate . Can they be kept easily over winter , without to much faf ?

I have a couple of the more tender ones, they are quite happy overwintered in a unheated greenhouse. In fact they have been flowering for over a month now. They are super easy from cuttings too.

I know these as Rain Daisy, Mine are now hardy, prune them quite low & cover them in fleece over winter. I've seen quite a few colours.

 

I've not grown them for a few years either, but they were never hardy with me, ok with a light frost but anything lower than around minus 2C seemed to finish them off.

Used to take cuttings, but decided just buying new ones was probably a lot less hassle, it just depends on how much greenhouse space you have available.

There are some almost totally hardy types, that tend to only come in white or pink, on spreading plants, I now grow them instead.

 

I have a spreading one too, given to me as a cutting. Think it needs to hang over a raised bed or small wall to really work though (still in pot at present).

I wouldn't say I have greenhouse space but I am addicted to propagation!
