Any ideas for use of 60,000 odd socks? (Genuine question, I have hoarding tendencies!)

There are charities that will take them, they send them to be recycled and get money for textiles sent for recycling.

Thanks, will look into it now as the charities local to me don't want to know about them.

Found one great charity Carly and Charley - The Odd Sox Project

10 year olds Charley and Carly are collecting odd socks to donate to homeless, bless them :) although I don't think they would need toddlers or size 12-3 socks, I have e-mailed them to see if there's a drop off point in South Wales.

Hi Linz, have you been in your local charity shops? The place i work for have a " rag man " who comes every monday. He pays us by the weight load and takes everything away and then it gets shipped to Africa.

Chocolate tea pot springs to mind...

As much as us homeless appreciate the thought, odd socks that would actually fit would be better :)

:waggy: Now, methinks you are just being a little picky and haven't put your creative head on.
Just because they are ikkle socks doesn't mean they are useless! Oh no ... think ... 10 ikkle socks to keep 10 ikkle tootsies warm ;)
Or ... cut off the leg from a sock so you have a tube = Willy Warmer!
Or ... as above, but open the tube so you have a square, stitch them all together = cosy blanket!
Or ... use them to stuff an old cut off trouser leg, knot the leg each end = draft excluder!
Necessity is the mother of inventions ;)

Yes @KFF went to bernados, we also have "y bont" that drops bags through the door, and collect them 2 days later (but don't take odd socks/bedding/rags) and we also have "cash for clothes" van nearby. There's one I haven't gone to BHF so will give them a ring and see what they say. Theres also a drop off "bin" by tesco but dont take odds.

                    Exactly my thoughts @Zigs :frown:
