    Hi,

How do you remove weeds that grow in the gap between a concrete path and a tarred driveway - where both are at the same level? Also, how do you remove weeds that grow in the gap between individual curb stones. How do you remove the stubborn grass that is left above the curb stones when you cut your grass?

    Thanks,

    Barry

Hi @Barry79 if you don't like using weed killer there are some tools you can buy to remove weeds between paving, have a google, there's even a flame thrower type thing that purports to kill weeds and roots! I, personally, just wait till I can grab hold of them then pull them out:noidea: Having said that my garden is not what you would call ' neat and tidy ':heehee:
If you want it dead, glyphosate weed killer is the way to go :blue thumb:

i have the same problem. I have block paving down a long drive and across the front of the house. Weed killer is your best option and then scrape out the dead weeds afterwards. A Weed wand is fine, but better for the bigger weeds, in my opinion.

The only truly effective way to kill perennial deep rooted weeds is using a chemical like glyphosate in my opinion. A one off treatment is usually all that is required. Here glyphosate is used very sparingly to spot weed now and then. :)
By digging out weeds we are simply disturbing the soil thus exposing more and more weed seeds....a vicious circle. A flame gun doesnt seem to kill roots of bindweed and the like or even dandelions

Glyphosate will soon be banned and we will miss it; controlling weeds will then be almost impossible to control

I brought a weed burning torch last season found it great for small weeds and grass that grows in any gaps. I have used chemicals before to kill a large area of grass but personally avoid chemicals unless absolutely needed. The big bonus is the torch allows me to combine two of my favourite things fire and gardening :hapfeet:

We tend to get a mixture of moss, weeds and grass, so weed killer and the brush tool is my best option.

Love this organic method. Do you find it burns/damages the paving? considering using it on the drive way here after it's been jet washed, as I find I end up watering the weeds!!

Haven’t suffered any damage to paving but I do keep it moving to avoid any damage. The only damage caused was to me when I’d finnished using the torch and left it to cool later picking it up and it ended up not being as cool as I assumed :wallbanging:

I made one of these from a brickwork pointing trowel, cutting the slots using an angle grinder. It's thinner than anything you can buy, will get right down between thick butt jointed pavings and rip up weed roots in between them. It can also be used horizontally to skim through weeds just below the surface of soil, or scraping them off the top of pavings.

Think I made it over 20 years ago.

It’s ok, the EU has agreed on the renewal of the 5 year licence and has a large backing from the U.K.
