    Creating a border.
The lawn at the side of the house went right up to the fence. The only thing growing there was an established Quince. Bit scruffy in January when this was taken but faboulous in April when it flowers so I decided to leave it in. South facing so in a good aspect for a border.
Firstly I dug a trench and filled it with concrete for a base for the slab edging. The edging slabs were bought from B&Q for 1p each! they were 1 foot square slabs about 20mm thick. Basically I cut them in half to end up with edging 6" x 12" I think I bought 60 for 60p :heehee: As you can see I started laying the slabs from the far end.

Early April the edging is finished and the soil is ready for a good turning over. The quince is just started to flower,
border2.jpg June and Sweet Peas are starting to grow up the fence. It looked a lot better in July but I haven't got a picture. :wallbanging:
