This looks amazing but I have a question.... It seems you have paved right up to the tree trunk? Would that not harm your tree?

Hiya Clueless76..it's an old rickety Pear tree that had seen better days so a couple of years ago I decided it should go...half way through chopping it down I went on a guilt trip and couldn't bare to part with the old chap:rolleyespink::ideaIPB: Bird feeding station that's what it'll be:blue thumb: this year, for all it's not exactly a 'good looking' tree it fruited so well I was still loathed to part with it:rolleyespink:...So he's had a bit of a reprieve yet again...at the end of the day he's had a good innings so if I should lose him he's done me proud:blue thumb:

(Just chop him down and have done with it is what is in my thoughts but I can't:doh::rolleyespink:):)

The roots spread at least as far as the canopy of a tree so it's best to keep that area unpaved, no harm in underplanting, although if you look at nature, the plants that can survive under them have usually flowered before the canopy opens, Bluebells, Wild Garlic, Primroses etc. :)

It certainly wouldn't be advisable to pave right up to the trunk if you have a prize specimen but seen as I haven't much to lose I risked it...:blue thumb:
Yep ...I'll order them once my Buxus are in:blue thumb:

My bare root Buxus are arriving Tuesday:fingers crossed: so they'll be in by tea time,if not I'll be planting inn the dark:biggrin:
