    Looks absolutely fine ehcjb
The pink is the new growth.......if you pinch the end shoots it will promote new growth and, therefore, your desired pink :rasp:

I keep mine watered now. Feed in spring and mulch.
No, pinching will achieve what you want :)

Hi, I have a Salix too but mine is very spindly. The branches are bare, then towards the end of the branch there are leaves and new pink growth. Can I do anything to promote growth along the whole branch instead of just at the end?

Ella, you can shorten those branches.....esp in early spring but again as the season progresses via pinching back. dont be afraid to do this.
I suspect your salix may have dried out at some stage too.....it needs to be kept moist :). Water well and your plant will respond

image.jpeg Thank you- I have added a photo. My Salix is a different type to the one above I think. Do you get " weeping" types because mine seems droopy. Can I pinch out the end leaves on this type? As you can tell - I'm such a novice!!
          Thank you in advance.

I will post a picture of mine (free standing) tomorrow
I would pull down and tie in those branches Ella.....this will encourage shoots along the branches :)

IMG_1299.JPG Morning Ella.......lowering branches a little and tying in will help shoots form along them.
This is a pic of one of mine as a free standing bush. In early spring I remove any dead/brown stems....also helps to make it more bushy :)

Hi Verdon. I also have a standard Salix Flamingo but nowhere near as nice as yours. I've watered it ever day in this drought but as you can see from the picture it's become very spindly although there are new shoots and buds throughout. I'm tempted to prune it back but that will mean I'll remove the new buds. Should I do go ahead? Thank you in advance.

Yes, I can see eddy baby
Instead of watering it every day, I suggest you drench it once a week or twice if very hot. I would also give it a feed, maybe chicken pellets, and a thick mulch.
The soil is important too.....is yours reasonable or thin? Is it in full sun? It will not like poor soil.
Yes, I would trim back those spindly ends to new buds

I had one in a very dry corner and in full sun a couple of years back and it struggled. I moved it to the back garden where soil is much better. It is thriving. So, maybe consider moving yours in the autumn if it doesnt improve eddybaby :)
