Secateurs, which type?

Have to say I use falco's I use them pretty much every day at work and never had any probs with them they stay sharp well an give you a nice clean cut.

I use the bypas type I can't remember the model number off hand.

 

Have a look at these - high quality German engineering and a little less expensive than Felco.

Thanks for your help everyone, but I'd best enlighten you....I said I'm on a tight budget, that budget being almost non existent. I'm not fit to work and my husband has been out of work for the best part of two years having been made redundant. Being close to retirement age it's unlikely he will get work now, so income is non-existent and the little we get from JSA doesn't cover our bills. Any spare cash I have is made from selling plants amongst other things at boot sales. I'd love to buy Felco's but it's just not an option at this point. Sorry for the sob story, but that's life unfortunately!

Scrungee........Amazon and many other companies won't deliver free of charge to the island, if they'll deliver here at all!

 

I wondered whether that might be the case. If this was about 6 weeks ago I would have suggested doubling up some Tesco Clubcard points for Gardening Vouchers and getting them from Tesco Direct to collect instore, but I suppose you might not be able to do that if living on the IOM.

 

Sheal, next time you do a boot sale take time to look around - I bet you'll be able to pick up a descent pair of secateurs for a pound or so.

Scrungee......you're getting to know this island as well as me! Yes we have Tesco's Direct, secateurs would be possible and anything else that could be delivered in small packaging, appliances and such like are a no no. We can't use most of the offer vouchers that we get with the bill either. The petrol one is really frustrating as they don't have a 'station' attached!

Alex-Adam, yes, thank you for the idea. I tend to have a look around for any bargains while I'm there, but our boot sales are no where near the scale of yours on the mainland. In fact the one coming up this weekend is one of two major ones held here once a year and they consist of approx. 100 stalls. Most others consist of no more than about 25 stalls.

 

I'm sure someone here could post you one, once sourced cheaply?

Woo, I like your description. I'm hoping to get something a little better than a Reliant Robin, there are so many available to choose from. I'll go with price, how they handle and more so instinct!

 

Well, I pushed the boat out just a little bit further than I should have done and bought a pair of Wolf Garten bypass secateurs today. £3 dearer than on the web but I would have paid more than that for the postage.

 

OMG how much were they?

Homebase had Wolfgarten stuff @ 15 (or 20%?) off for a while last year which also overlapped with 15 & 20% off promotions, plus they had some items reduced which made some items really cheap and I got some of their stuff for about a pound each (I stocked up with it). And Nectar points too. I'm sure that I posted about it.

Scrungee......... I have to remind you again, we don't have all the stores, discounts etc. here. The only large DIY store is B&Q. Having shopped around I actually bought them in a garden centre I very rarely go into because their prices are marked up and it was the only place that had some that were half decent. I paid £19.99 for them but only £4 more than I wanted to spend anyway, so I don't consider that much over budget.
