Intriguing to know that Newspaper may hold together better than Loo rolls. I've got lots of Newspaper, but only just started collecting loo rolls. Deffinitely going to give it a try.

"I am so chuffed at getting a Blue Peter Badge"

I don't think you've had the courage to Google images of the (former?) Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq at the Spiderman movie premier then, eh?!! Otherwise I'm sure you'd be complained that your badge wasn't presented "in person" ...

I went on a trawl of News Paper Plant Pots movies last night ... sad, I know ... and there was quite an impressive Origami one. Looked the business, and held together by itself nicely. I watched the movie carefully, then watched it again whilst making one myself. Mine fell to bits as I picked it up :( (Mind you, I'll have another go because the concept looks sound, its probably just my cack-handedness; I've always thought Origami started with an "O" because only Octopuses can do it!)

There was another movie that made a paper-ring round a bottle with no / little overlap for the base. Then they scrunched up a sheet of newspaper and rammed it in to the bottom, with the glass bottle (looked very dangerous!) to make the base. Seemed to work, and might well have the benefit of allowing the bottom to be removed easily at planting time. I liked the aggressive step too ... would be good for my Karma ...

Then yet another one (or was it yours? I was bug-eyed by then!) said to remove the paper pot at planting time as the paper doesn't rot down / break apart quickly enough to let the roots through. That may have been the origami one even ... I'll be getting my coat then ... :D

    Now then...
Couple of pictures to show what is happening to my loo pots and what is not happining to my paper pots...
First picture is my paper pot doing just fine thank you with all the abuse I am giving them,, and Im sure they will soon rot down when planted out.

Second is the loo pots and as you can see one has parted company and is peeling along what appears to be a spiral seam going down the length of the tube. They are also are more fragile when planting out and tend to break apart easy.
Its paper pots for me from now one..:gnthb:

Here's the Origami Newspaper Pots video - I think it is worth considering. However, its a one-size deal (depending on the starter paper size), so not as flexible as wrap-round-suitably-sized-container

    Is that a badge-forfeiting faux-pas? :hehe:

Hopefully you'll be proud of me - did 101 pots today. Sweet corn and Parsnips and friends (Salsify and Scorzonera). I really like how deep the pots are - can't get a 3" plastic pot anything like that deep ...
