Wilkos are selling large (4 kg) boxes of bone meal for £3 (half price) and seeds for half marked prices.

My Long Handled Block Paving Knife arrived from Burgon and Ball today, not sure what I think to it and very much doubt I'll use it regularly, it's rather fiddly, hard work even with a long-handled variant. Feels quite flimsy compared to the other tools I've had from them, but time will tell... :dunno:

Looks like something for people who have time on their hands, dont think I would have the patience.
Glyphosate? You could get a gallon for that price.

Can't use glyphosate Pete, not pet-friendly! I thought I'd use it once a fortnight as my mate/gardener comes and does it once a fortnight, thus ending up with it getting done once a week if we both did it. Trouble is, I've left them to grow for a week and tried it this morning, the tool doesn't work as effectively when they're smaller as it doesn't hook onto them as well!:biggrin:

Oh well, I live and learn, was only £25. Plus it's not quite as fiddly as I first thought, there's definitely a knack to it.

£3.99 each from Aldi. They look pretty good to me. I shall stow them away in the shed for now and bring them out next spring. I have already ordered some ornate hanging brackets in anticipation.

@strongylodon I'm glad you said that. I am going to have to move it to a different shed. Lol.

That looks handy, saves bending/kneeling  but as you say it may not work as well as the short handled ones.

I was just thinking something similar @strongylodon. Not mice but the birds here would destroy the liners and take it for nesting. :)

It works just as well as a short-handled one (never said it didn't, just that it seemed just as hard to use initially) and is nowhere as uncomfortable for me as that type, better than I initially thought, Michael! :) Got a tiny bit of back pain during the first session but that's just due to using different muscles, I think. I tried using a short-handled version a few years ago for about 5 minutes and already felt achy, so this certainly seems like a big improvement! :blue thumb:

I don't have difficulty with the short handled one, I find it easy to use. I kneel down to use it, I can't bend, I get too much back pain.

Yes that's the trouble ...back and knee issues with me sadly, but I still try doing it in very short spurts.!

It's so hard when your mind is full of plans and ideas but your body is not willing to allow you to carry them out.

Not really into white or silver plants, but came across this today
Calocephalus brownii. Most silver looking plant I've seen.
