    He's in his jammies... :heehee:

I picked up some embroidery thread the other day for personalizing Christmas stockings and I'm thinking it must have been all these lockdowns getting to our brains as I picked thread that was such a deep red that it is almost maroon. I'm guessing we all know there is not much left of the old "normal".

I bought a book about Cacti in the garden. It's an American book so not directly applicable to UK North East gardens but a very good read. The cultivars are carefully named and the approach to Cacti as garden plants is refreshing. Great, detailed photos too.

Inspired, I also bought some nice seeds (Opuntia Santa Rita amongst them, I'll give it a try outdoors) and found some interesting UK seed shops in Etsy.

Cacti are usually easy to grow from seed and can be started now- that will give me something to do over the cold months. :)

Apparently, I have gone all out with spring bulbs. My main stock is already planted, apart from tulips. All of the bulbs will go in containers.

So perhaps my shopping spree today is overdoing it a bit... But I do want lush containers in the front to delight passer bys and me :)

60 Daffs? Yes, they'll fill three 50cm pots nicely to brighten the front garden I hope. The Crocuses are destined to become doorstep delights or forced for indoor flowering.

The tulips are there just to be lasagned below the Daffs in one of the pots.

I feel very guilty for spending that much cash on short delight plants, but then again I just had a meal out and didn't blink (too many times) on the prices that matched my bulb shopping extravaganza today.

Spring, spring, spring, please come soon! :)

Should look amazing @Selleri . I'm doing the same this year most of ours will be container grown too. All that's really left to do are the Tulips , Nov is the ideal planting time for them so I will make a start soon.

                        What a unique phrase!

I always compare it to buying a fresh bunch of flowers each week.

I was reading about layering bulbs only last week but hadn't heard that phrase and made me chuckle.

Two more for the front garden path borders, given up with annual bedding so it is now all perennials.
