I popped into B&Q (for some lighting) and found these drumstick primulas on the clearance bench. These were already on my wishlist so I'm delighted with my little bargain. IMG_20220211_103425340_HDR-01.jpeg

I almost ordered a Fritillaria root until I read the reviews. It never occurred to me to read reviews before buying plants but after my experience with non growing Antlantis Sedum and other things, I started doing that.

I was on the point of hitting the go to payment button when I did check.

Does anyone else look at these before buying?

I read things over and over again from all sources as I try to push the limits a bit. ;) I tend to have pretty good success, 90-odd percent.

I ordered these on the 27th of January for delivery within 28 days. I'm hoping for a garden of colour over the next few years.
I've got my sweetpeas and some salvia hopefully germinating on the windowsill also

Magnolias round these parts tend to have a survival rate of a mouse on Mars. Had one well established at the back of the garden, but the more it grew, the more it got exposed to the elements, fading eventually to effectively a ghost on Mars, all bark and no bite.

Tried a few times since with local garden centres, just watching the inevitable happen subsequently with increasing certainty.

However, suitably cleansed of the experience of failures, this year I’m dipping the toes back into world of magnolias with this one. A fairy magnolia cream. It’s tin says it’s an evergreen manageable, unlike the grandiflora. It’ll be potted and cosseted away from the wilds of this, at times, foreboding climate. It’s had a look outside and said more or less, nah, not yet out there mate. So, it’ll stay in the front door until more things are more clement outdoors, long odds on that in the foreseeable.

Hurray ... the Red & White Double Brugmansia (pictured above) arrived from Spain today. It was well packaged in an Ice Cream Roll box with wet tissue and bubble wrap but needs a drink to recuperate. I will plant it tomorrow.

Yes :blue thumb: - they are designed to fit over a 1.8 m fence panel - although you can change their shape as the willow frame is hinged.

In my previous pic - they are fitted to 1.8 m X 1.8 m trellis.

I've been trying to get some more from Home Bargains - but all stock is gone. You can buy them from Amazon - but you will be looking at around £45 per panel.
