I was in QD today and picked up some summer flowering bulbs. They are still in the car so I can't take any photos just yet. The last 2 nights have been freezing and I'm busy tomorrow so they might have to wait until the weekend to go in.

I want to add some colour to the ground either side of the summer house steps. The area is pretty small (30"×12" approx). Hopefully there will be enough room for a nice display. I've put them in the shed for now. That's a half way house between indoors and out. They should be hard enough then to plant out I a couple of days.

@Jack Sparrow I have just chitted my scented begonias... planted them pressed down firmly in compost in hanging baskets and have kept them on a window sill indoors (frost free as they are not frost proof) I had never grown them before two years ago but fell in love with a scented begonia called Angelique a BEEutiful cascading plant ....who smells DELicious ..and is pollinator friendly:wub2:....This is good and quick info video here if you have never grown them before....hope it helps

My order of 3 Echinacea's from Parkers arrived today and out of the three root stocks only one is even looking like being viable. One rootstock was just secondary roots so no chance of anything growing there, and the second was damp, soft and obviously rotten. That was my last and final purchase from them as I've had problems before with orders from there before such as ordering around 8 specific Perennial Poppies and when they flowered found they were all just common red types:wallbanging::dunno::gaah: It also took weeks and two e-mails to even get an answer from them on another order that had gone wrong. So I will look elsewhere in future.:dunno::coffee:

Got a lovely Taraxacum Officinale in the garden. It flowers throughout the winter as well as in the summer time. Superb yellow flowers and nice foliage. Very under rated evergreen :)

Ha ha Gail, ok! Another grass I am fond of is deschampsia. There are different varieties but cespitosa is my favourite. It makes a metre high billowing, swaying mass of whitish flowers all summer. Perfectly hardy and extremely tactile :)

Check out imperata red baron too.......maroon red foliage from early summer. Great for making ribbons meandering through the garden :)

Heads up to everyone, if you are a member of the 'gardening club' at Wyevale there should be a £5.00 voucher in your email inbox. I wouldn't normally shop there because it's over-priced in comparison to other GCs and nurseries (literally 2 or 3x) but if it's free why not hazard a look ;)
