I had a clump of Red Hot Pokers down by the soakaway ditch, but I think they have been trampled into oblivion by the contractors when they installed new soakaway.

What a shame @luciusmaximus :dunno: as they are lovely plants if you drop on the right sort.

I love kniphofia I got a few myself, what do you mean its got wrecked ? most of them are winter hardy in this country but wouldn't like having wet feet in winter. I wait and see if they come back up, the ones I have are semi evergreens

oh dear, I dont grow calistemon fearing the cold winter winds will see it off. I dont cut the foliage on the kniphofia just adds a bit more protection to the crown, I tidy them up in spring :) Mine have fair well so far this winter, had 4-5 inch of snow the other day.

@Perki I have two on the back garden which have gone through some heavy snow and rain and still flourished a lovely green in winter but now the leaves are a pale brown/white gone hard and coming off slowly and I have 5 smaller versions on the front and gone totally the same but the leaves have really come off and the stems are going bare...this year as destroyed them.
They wasn't cheap £16 each on the front and my two on the back a neighbour got them cheaper for me from work originally £35 but I pad £15 each.

When there's a dry day i'll get my hubby to take some shots but this is how they usually look and how they flowers. :)

Thanks for the fingers crossed @Perki hopefully that is just the case and they need to regenerate, as they're clipped underneath as apparently that helps them regenerate also :dbgrtmb:

Your Callistemon @Gail_68 is citrinus Splendens known for it's showy flowers but it is not hardy, I have lost a few over the years suffering leaf scorch at -/5c and dying completely after -7/8c.
I stick to the hardier ones now as I am in frost pocket on sandy soil. I have 10 different varieties, yellow pink and red but not splendens!

Thanks @strongylodon for the info and I just hope when spring comes I might and i'm say might see some progress if not...then going and finding something to replace them but I hope my back ones survive if nothing else :)

They appear to have vanished altogether. I've been digging about down there and didn't come across them, but may have missed them. Truthfully, I'm not very disappointed as wasn't that keen on them to begin with and they are red. If they do reappear I will have to make a choice whether to dig up or keep them as they were tenacious enough to survive.:heehee:

I won't be too disappointed if they don't reappear. They were planted with orange Crocosmia. Red and orange are a bit nineteen seventies. I also noticed that the Bees didn't rate them so much and my intention is to turn the garden into a wildlife garden. But, we shall see in a few weeks or so if they are still there.

@luciusmaximus well I hope they're still there so you can at least try and establish them and don't mention bees mate...Christ when the lavender plants need cutting in to balls, they do go a game..I've told my hubby I need a net to throw over them :heehee:
