          I popped in to get bird food , but outside they had lots of small plants for sale which all look really great so only just arrived the day before the person on the till told me , I bought two "Red passion flower" climbers which should be intresting to grow

              "Things that happen when you go for afternoon drinks with the girls and go home via M&S"

              Even though I'm not a big fan of potted flowers grown to look great for two weeks and then to be binned, or at most, surviving in the tatty corner but never looking as good again, this one came home with me. M&S, £5 with the ceramic pot. (Artistic angle is thanks to the photographer aka The Teenager :scratch: )

                    We ordered some phlox from T&M at the beginning of February, the delivery was supposed to be in two weeks.

                    After two weeks I got an e-mail from them saying the delivery would be delayed, but they would come by the end of March.
                    They didn't, so on 2nd April I sent them a polite e-mail asking where they were.

                    I got this response.

                    Thank you for your recent email regarding your Thompson & Morgan or Van Meuwen (part of the BVG Group) order.
                    Please accept our apologies for the length of time you have been waiting for a response from us, we understand that this is far from our usual service and we are truly sorry.
                    Our teams are working extremely hard to answer all of your queries quickly and efficiently and we ask that you bear with us during this busy time.
                    Please can we request that you do not send us a follow up email chasing a response, as this will naturally slow the process down.
                    We would like to thank you for your patience during this busy time.


                    So they got this back..

                    I’m a long term customer (at the moment). Things rarely go wrong and when they do, you’ve always responded with a positive outcome.

                    I placed an order in good faith and was given an expected delivery date.
                    Some time later, I received an e-mail telling me that the order would be delivered late by several weeks but was promised it by the end of March.
                    That came and went with no explanation, so I e-mailed a polite enquiry as to when I could expect it.
                    This is the first time I’ve ever received what amounts to a, “don’t call us we’ll call you,” response which is obviously a “one size fits all” bit of bad PR, which I don’t appreciate. Which bright spark thought that one up? They need firing.

                    So kindly get your act together.

                      Gaahhh. I'm in a job where queues and backlogs happen from time to time, and then it's a question if the backlog should be solved from oldest to newest (missing the follow ups) or newest to oldest, adding to the response time of the oldest if they didn't follow up.

                      So I can see where the request of not to send chasing emails comes from, but that one did come across a bit blunt, as automated messages do.

                      It's a balancing act to sort out backlogs with minimum consumer impact, and to get the necessary automated handling right.

                      However, in this instance, it's not that the supplier was caught in a sudden snow blizzard, the order was placed two months ago! I would have expected the supplier to anticipate the rush at this time of the year, and even if something unpredictable had happened, to proactively tell it to their customers "so sorry, the storm Gareth destroyed our phlox plugs, we'll get you a replacement in April" or such.

                      For the prices they charge, T&M should do much better. :mad:

                        I've said before I wouldn't touch T&M plants with a barge pole and I still wouldn't, however I now would order absolutely nothing at all off them ever again. I ordered some seeds off them when they had their buy 5 get one free deal ( or something like that )on a few months ago. They charged me full price. I rang them and compained and she said I had to order another packet as they couldn't do a refund and I'd get a confirmation email.. I ordered it over the phone iand guess what no email and no free seeds. NEVER AGAIN.... con artists.

                        I use three companies regularly, Parkers, Hayloft and Allwoods and I couldn't recommend them more - excellent quality, service and customer relations from all three.

                          I'm sure everyone has a different opinion. For myself, whatever problems I've had with them, they've always resolved them to my satisfaction.

                          The problem is, as it is with many companies, you occasionally get some numpty looking to make a name for themselves, by attempting to "navigate" situations, as I think it was in my case.

                            The thing is with me is that T&M only offer mass ( cheaply ) produced plugs or seedlings whereas the others sell established plants
                            And, two of them ( Hayloft and Allwoods ) are family companies who give that " personal touch "

                            The advantage of T&M is that you don't have to go anywhere to get something, same with anmy on-line supplier. My wife has MS so traveling anywhere is a bit difficult. She's just ordered 9 diascia plug plants and a blueberry, from QVC.

                            I've bought some gardening stuff on e-Bay. (first place I look for anything new). A lot of plant suppliers use it.

                            That's from where this stellar cherry came last year. Lots of flower buds on it already.
