Super Salvias - 2016

    If you wait until the plant is producing plentiful cutting material you can't go wrong.

    I always prune in spring as it means that there are no unprotected wounds over the winter. Also moisture cannot run down hollow stems and rot the plant from the inside out.

    Depends on the species/cultivar and how you intend to overwinter them.

      They're all outdoors in pots at the mo, so might bring them all under the lean-to over winter then. Most of them didn't do too well this year (unavoidable lack of TLC early in the year) so probably better to not risk them out to the elements. Thanks longk :smile:

      Anything in pots is more vulnerable as the roots are more exposed to cold.

      Salvia involucrata is looking really good now. Shame that it's at my parents house (all my less hardy Salvia do better there!).................
