The hayloft salvia collection are all doing well - nice little plants, recommend them:

Also picked up Embers Wish from the man @ the market this week:

looks like an interesting one - hopefully I will get around to potting it on this weekend, along with a couple of the hayloft ones if I can find space.

While tidying up some of the winter casualties, this morning, I came across a Salvia stolonifera doing a very good dead stick impression. I tipped it out and found the shoots and tubers in the photo below.

I hadn't realised it was tuberous, almost like a Dahlia. A pleasant surprise though.

One of my favourites. It is hardier than it gets credit for and is unusual for a Salvia in that it quite likes moisture and is fairly shade tolerant..

I read an article on Salvias the other day and some of it was about " Hot Lips ". They were saying that the flowers can alter colour any time in the year, it's triggered by s change in temperature.

I'll try and find it out later.

Amistad is the super sized one in the foreground.

Our established Hot Lips is also in full bloom, it's massive this year! White lips only emerged in past couple of days.

                  Hi Ben,

Mine are about the same size as yours :)

Amistad is also my strongest grower.

Super sized? Mine is almost in bloom :heehee: Now I must confess that it did spend a fair proportion of the last three months since it emerged in the greenhouse.
S.oxyphora and S.radula are in bud too :hapydancsmil:

                    Hi Longk,

My " Amistad " ( the one from last year not the Hayloft one ) has been outside all Winter. Now it's about 6" high. Admittedly, it's not done as well as " Neon ", that's about 2' high and is just coming into bloom.

Nachtvlinder has started flowering lots but many of its lower leaves are yellowing. It's in a pot from last year but I have been fertilising.

All the others are about to burst into flower, photos in the next week if the sun comes out I suspect!

                        Could your Nachtvlinder need repotting?

Most likely. I've added fertiliser granules and stopped watering as it was overly wet too.
