      I was about to ask about that - it looks nice. What species is it and is it hardy?

        Salvia greggii Icing Sugar has only just started to flower.
        If we get a Hummingbird Hawk Moth in the garden, this is the one plant it will go for.

          Salvia coerulea is a winter flowering species but it is still looking really good..........

          According to Robin Middleton young plants (this was a cutting taken late last summer) will flower early but he made no mention of them blooming out of season. It did try over the winter but I cut the blooms off (as they never look very good in the depths of a UK winter) and kept it in an unheated greenhouse to try to save the flowering season until spring when there is more light.

                  A couple of winter blooming species that are still producing blooms;
                  Salvia gesneriiflora is struggling with the heat as a lot of the blooms are slightly deformed or the colour is washed out but it still produces some good 'uns..............

                  Salvia coerulea is better though.............

                  Salvia sclarea var. turkestanica is a summer bloomer but this single plant is by far the best that I've ever had - it's huge.............

                    Check out Ebay BigC for salvias. Wasnt a regular ebayer but there is a large range of salvias available and cheaper than most other suppliers:)
                    Ive had some unusual varieties from them....I grow some 20 or more different salvia varieties and many were from an ebay supplier :)

                        Ebay is even better for seeds. The best way to get the rarer species.
