A couple of weeks ago I planted some sweet pea seeds - germinated them indoors then started putting them outside during the day and bringing them inside at night.

Unfortunately yhey are already getting far too leggy, many are already 4 or 5 inches tall.

They are getting plenty of light and as they are outside all day they're not exactly in a warm environment during daylight hours.

The topmost leaves are just starting to open but there's a good number of leaf nodules all the way down the stems.

Even though only the topmost leaves are starting to open is it okay to pinch those out now ?

    Thanks

If they are outside in the day getting plenty of light , the plants will be fine . I would pinch out above 4 full sets of leaves .

Thanks. So I ONLY pinch out the tip when four other sets of leaves have grown further down the stem?

Or can I pinch out the tip now even though no other leaves are present?

You must have leaves showing before you can pinch . Have a look at this SP Video on the post below. :blue thumb:

        Hi MH,

Can I also add that Sweet Peas , being climbers, they are probably not leggy, just growing normally.
