Agreed, as back in the 90's my Son-in-Law and I cut down and dug out 72 Conifers lining the garden's back fence. The hardest part was digging out the stumps and roots.:dunno::wallbanging::doh:

Saw a video some time ago about getting rid of tree stumps.
It involved a very slow but effective burning of the stump.
Of course you still have the roots to deal with.
If you want to get the stump out you should leave a good few feet of trunk so that you have a lever.

We left around 2' of trunk, pete, but the effort and time of just getting enough root to lever them out was exhausting.:dunno:

We dig down really deep all the way around the roots, then get a sledge hammer on it to rock it back and forward then get a pick axe on it. Then cut off outward roots with electric saw, keep on digging and eventually by brute strength we get them out.

Must of cost you a pretty penny rogers probably more than you were expecting to spend . Nice choice though and you'll keep most of the planting space :) . What are you going to do about the future height ? trim them or just let them grow naturally .

Very hard work but rewarding to actually do something positive during lockdown.
