A couple of months ago I sowed a few almost black hollyhocks. 2 were growing great until a snail made it all the way to the top of my mini greenhouse and ate one of them down to a stump.
Is it too late to sow some more? I have a heated propagator and shed where young plants are being kept over winter. Just think one plant is going to look odd. Snail was found and dispatched off.

Personally, I just toss the seed down where I want them and leave them to germinate in the spring. Thin them out and pot up or transplant the surplus after they germinate.

Given the right conditions Hollyhocks will bush out rather well.
