    Hi
Can anyone help me with the above plant? I have had one in my garden for about two years. Each winter the leaves turn a red/coppery colour and it looks rather ill. I have read that it grows quite quickly but mine has done very little in the past year.

It is sited in full sun in well drained soil trying to grow over an archway ( only about 2 ft up so far!) I do realise that its not totally hardy but I live on the south coast and it appears to have survived the winter so far.

Is it normal for the leaves to change colour in the winter or is it in need of a good feed?

    Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah the red leaves are considered a feature of the plant....it does as you say need a good feed in spring (osmocote/fish blood and bone pelleted chicken poo maybe) to green it back up and get it growing.

Dont know how cold youve had it down there but this winter may have been to much for some of them here, having said that lots of things have coped fine with -10 nights and two weeks of lying snow.

THanks for the help - I didnt realise the leaves changed colour in the winter!
II is still alive, having managed to cope with the frosts quite well. I was also surprised that it survived!

I shall give it a good feed...
