The Iris looks lighter in colour in your shot @longk. :) Mine below.....

      Iris 'Little Chestnut' (4).JPG

Have you had a good sniff? The perfume is very sweet. :) Spruce also has some and he had them identified as 'Little Chestnut' but I don't know which type of Iris it is, sorry!

I thought I might have to come on the scrounge as I almost lost mine in the climate/soil here. They are now in a large pot, doing well and about to flower.

My irises aren't ready yet either. They have been in leaf for months. After I transplanted them, some of the leaves turned brown. The rest looks healthy enough. I'm hoping they will be ok in their new home. Last year they were in the same spot but in a pot.

@redstar I love your combination of textures and foliage colour, and the flowers add the perfect topping!

P1080242.jpg 1) I had a monster Begonia Sutherlandii that I chopped into 3 and stored them o'Winter. They all looked sound and happy so, they go on the bathroom windowsill and won't go outside until late May. In a Macramé hanging basket by the front door (Northeast facing). And today I can see 2 tiny orange flowers appearing..

Thank you. @CarolineL . when choosing plants for shaded areas you have to focus on the foliage as flowers are not vibrant in shade plants. we did remove some trees which helps. I like to use plants as I would decorate rooms.

The azaleas hedge that grows round our tiny front lawn is coming into bloom.

                          P1020642.JPG

The red azaleas to the side of the patio are out, the white ones will follow.

The first rhodo to flower. The one to the right won't flower until August.

These two tree azaleas won't be long to flower now.

This "well trained" wisteria is nearly there.

This Amber clematis, new to us last year, is spreading rapidly.

I suggest for some folk. Keep an eye out for when your local parks & gardens plant out.
