I thought it was something to do with seedling colour, light green and dark green, but I always save some of the weak seedlings of any mixed seed as they are often the best colours.

These are purple and not a mix, and not the scented ones that look rubbish but smell lovely.

Matthiola Incanata something something, most likely from Lidl or garden centre clearance seeds

Yesterday, I bought a Delphinium and an Euphorbia. Back in the garden, I gave the Delphinium a cloche hoping these little black slugs don't eat it. It's my last attempt. If this Delphinium also doesn't make it, I give up on them.
The Euphorbia should turn red in Autumn/Winter time.
Since the promised rain doesn't materialised, I will try today to find slugs (I found 3 little black ones on a Echinacea and I was wondering why this plant has no new grow), and continue to tidy up the beds from leaves and cover the ground with bark.

          A wonderful image!

@simone_in_wiltshire, you are more ambitious than me. I gave up on Delphiniums a while ago, though I examine them longingly in GCs. I saw one looking poorly on the reduced table and as an act of compassion was going to buy it. But luckily, when I returned to it after a stroll round, another customer was just adding it to her trolley. :)

Hi @Perki the motor is an FJ100D. Me and hubby have been looking online for a new pipe. Seems there are two parts and I did write down the part numbers, but as you say one has to buy any make as long as it's the same size. It's the internal measurement that's important. And it needs to be a bit flexible. It has an outer coating. Halfords do fuel pipes. I noticed hubby was online late yesterday looking at them. He says he's found one 4mm internal on eBay. I expect he will buy it. We will be selling the mower eventually as hubby is replacing it with a wider one, which he is still doing up. It's his hobby really, although I do all the mowing!

I've just mulched the last bed I weeded but halfway through it started to rain. I finished but I didn't weed the next bed.

A productive day. We watered the orchids (takes about 2 hours!). Planted out the sweet pea seedlings with supports for them to cling onto. Then planted out the onions and shallots and covered them with netting to stop the birds pulling them up. We are so far behind in our veg growing this year but at least we are getting there.
Then continued with cutting up small branches for firewood.

It's been dry, cool and dull all day, so more clearing/cleaning in the garden, accompanied by a friendly robin and a shy wren. We are really pleased with our achievements, considering that OH has not been able to do any heavy work since mid 2021.
The patio is ready for pressure cleaning, and I have a load of stuff ready for the tip.
All the seedlings pricked out yesterday are looking perky!
I have gladdies to plant out too.

I’ve just looked at my borders after last night’s rain to see what has appeared, trying to convince myself to stick to my new year’s resolution - no overplanting, let everything fill the space when they are ready. I’m not sure how long I can comply .

Today I tidied up a hypericum, butchered a poor spirea (I nearly apologised to it), potted a heucherella that I am pretty certain has been mislabelled and did some watering (roses + non established shrubs). Then my car suddenly stopped at a garden centre on my way to buy some pet supplies, and two festuca glauca jumped in my basket. So I planted them when I got back.

Funny, I have the same make and model of car @CostasK.
I meant to mention my herbs - successful sowings of various basils, parsley, fenugreek and sage (which I've never grown from seed before).
Divided the chives, sowed coriander and repotted the French tarragon.

The fence post is still there as I got distracted with potting on my recent purchases and a miniature rose and some Artichokes I really don't know where to put.
