Fleeced the Pineapple broom tree, not that fleecing it last year brought any flowers in the summer, but at least the leaves came back. It’s in its third location in five years, got a good mulching and hopefully establishing itself now for a flush of yellow next year.

Never giving of its yellow as well, despite fleecing last year, is the Mimosa, which has spurted up to about 16ft and proved just unfleecable today unless via a cherry picker. It’s got some protection either side of it, so although flowering is a long shot, a good chance of retaining enough of those feathery fernery leaves to flap about next year.

Wow !! You are certainly testing the boundaries with those two , in your location , sounds like the Mimosa likes it though. :)

Thanks Tomcat. Guess about 5 years ago, just got fed up with the same old, same old in the hereabouts and widened the scope of possibilities. Sometimes, it’s a labour of hope instead of fruition, witness the only Indian Bean Tree taken from seed a year and a half ago, which shows signs of leaves for a brief period, just enough to raise the hope a bit before retreating to its 2 inch stem again. It’s not growing bigger, or dying, and Indian in the sense of the tiniest village in the smallest province of the vast country!!

Not a lot; blustery, showery the sort of weather that makes housework appealing.

Finally cleared up after storm Arwen. It's lovely to be allowed back in the office, but it also means that I get no daylight hours in the garden apart from weekends.

Anyways, I now have a bucketful of aged bits of terracotta that look great, can't wait to invent a project to display them. Sadly, the roof doesn't look that smashing any more, but hey ho, what wouldn't one do for some free terracotta. Apparently it's Dutch from 1920s. :dbgrtmb:

The roofer said that these tiles are no longer available and refused to nick any from the neighbours, as if they had noticed. Wimp.

Rose obelisks are straightened, fallen branches cleared and the pond is more watery than leafy. It says a lot about the storm that the pond had a fair few oak leaves, the nearest oak trees are half a mile away.

The mini Angel's trumpet in the garage looks all right, and in general everything seems fine after the hard frosts lately.

First Hyacinth is out from the fridge, Christmas can come now :)

Up to the greenhouse check things over, water as necessary, strong winds mean that will probably be it for the day though despite the sunshine.

Finally got an hour to start gathering the leaves. Mowed 2m, emptied the bin... mowed 2m, emptied the bin... Rinse and repeat! So many leaves!!
Managed the back lawn then the mower packed in, so side lawns and front still in need of a trim. New lawn rake sorted some more but it's still leaf city out there.

Anyone know if a mobile lawn mower service and repair chap? It's in desperate need of overhaul and too big to lug it about

I tried that once years ago with the mower Loofah, but it was such a pain stopping and starting it was quicker to rake the leaves into piles.

Yep, front space almost done, dragged most way into the woods, now hills that could fill a 8 by 10 foot room, hip high. Then I started burning pile, lots of branches etc. Back yard of property next week. Have to lay out my extension cords for Christmas lights on tree in front etc, this weekend. Errands today. And the actual flower beds not raked out at all, only lawn area working on. Might put a small add out , for anyone wanting to make some Christmas money to help. But these young ones don't want to work. SMH
