      When that first came out I tried it, it was very free draining and the plants didn't do as well as the peat based composts, but hope they have improved it for you @Loofah

        Up to the greenhouse and pend morning sowing seeds, some to stay in the greenhouse and others to go in the propagator in the garage.
        When it stops raining, have a mooch around and try and assess damage from the cold snap. Pick up sticks blown off trees in the strong winds.
        Soil will be too wet to work after > 3 inches of rain since last Saturday.

          We've had quite a few of those types over the years but have spent time in training them :blue thumb:. Some did well and others didn't but even those that did well quite often left the profession after some years either because they didn't like working outside in the winter or, more often, didn't know how to cope with running a business. :dunno:

          The one we now have is in his third year with us and doing very well. He trained in arboriculture but wanted to move into gardening. He has also been studying online and through books and seems to be really getting the hang of things. :) He does a lot of our heavier work nowadays and we do the lighter stuff.

            I've started and edging some of the lawns and doing the fiddly weeding jobs. Lewis has been barrowing the compost for me (amongst his other work) as it's a good 300ft from the compost heaps. He did 25 barrow loads the other day :rolleyespink:

            These beds are solid with plants later in the year.

              It's looking really neat @shiney When did you last cut your grass? I wish ours was that short-it looks a mess.

              Pretty much finished off the cold frame yesterday.

                I last cut it in November but it's an optical illusion. :heehee: That's not really a 'lawn'. It used to be but is now a 'moss' with weeds. :dunno:

                  Well it still looks good @shiney Im wondering whether it is worth sowing a few grass seeds Today as its going to be mild the next week or so.

                  Just checked on some seeds Id sown 2 days ago. I cannot believe it! Butternut squash grown to this in 2 days....yesterday they were just sprouting.

                        I've used Coir for a number of years: My Seed Compost is equal parts of Coir, JI No.1 & own compost..........For potting on I add Perlite with slow release feed.
                        This mix has worked well for me, hoping for the same this season:please:

                          The weather has stayed fairly dry so I had another amble around the garden to see what is happening in the borders.......
                          The long narrow border along the driveway at the front of the House is now showing some colour. It's not a bad showing for bulbs that I'd used this time last year in pots and, when they'd flowered dumped them, still in their pots, into a sack and left and forgotten them at the bottom of the garden until last November when I found them again.

                          Some of the self seeded Crocus are showing before the few hundred of bulbs that I'd planted last year:dunno:

                              More clearing out and pruning, now in the front garden. I had to use the bread knife to cut through the unwanted wild rose I hope to kill eventually. :stirpot:

                              The garden bin is now overly full and collections will not start until March so I have a pile of more orderly branches piling up until the collections start.

                              I thought I were somewhat fit but a weekend of gardening has showed that I have muscles in unexpected parts of my anatomy and my right leg is doing something funny. :scratch:

                              Anyways, beautiful gardening and the spring is just around the corner :hapfeet:

                                Finally warm and dry enough here to spend a bit more time on the greenhouse base; just need to finish the top course of bricks in the back corner and then we're hopefully ready to fill the middle. As long as the measurements are still correct...:fingers crossed::hate-shocked::fingers crossed:
