I washed the inside glass today in the Greenhouse , stole the soft brush out of the kitchen makes it much easier for hard to reach areas . Need to cut the Ivy back on the outside before I can clean the glass , I like ivy but it is a pain for taking advantage of my fondness the usual give it an inch it will take a mile.

Start off by filling this weeks badger diggings in the grass. Pick up prunings, check over greenhouse, tidy up anything killed off by this weeks frosts.

@CanadianLori So my plug makers have arrived: they are fantastic! 200 seeds planted into the little tiny ones in a single tray: lettuces, various small flower seeds etc. And this morning as a break from laying this path which has been ongoing for weeks, I made the plugs to plant on 28 lettuces which are ready for pricking out to something bigger. This system seems really good. No waste; highly efficient in terms of space and compost. I need to get some finer potting compost for the little one: I don't suppose the results will be top end with what I've used - but for a first go it was fine. Thank you.

Potted up my 7 Pot Yellow peppers and also a couple of Bhut Jolokia and yes @JimmyB they were in soil blocks and easy to pot up.

As well, I potted some "mystery" seedlings. They are either weed seeds that were in the soil or seeds that I had tried to start last year and when they didn't germinate, I used the soil for something else. Recycling my potting soil sometimes brings surprises. I'm plumping for either monstera or hollyhocks. They are just forming their first true pair of leaves so time will tell. :)

I've continued to remove the Allium siculum from this bed (Mrs Shiney reckons it was getting close to a thousand of them - makes my back ache thinking if it :rolleyespink:) and I shall leave the rest for her to do as they are under other plants and I can't bend forward to do that. This is part of the bed and I quickly did a surface pressure wash of the paving to get rid of the mud.

              P1530623.JPG

I've been working on this bed hand raking out debris, laburnum seeds (three laburnums above it), and cutting the edge. I've removed about 200 violets from this bed so far as they spread like weeds.
              P1530605.JPG

I've got round the corner and up to the Bergenias

              P1530607.JPG

The next job there is to remove all the Bergenias but we haven't decided what to replace them with. They will all be boxed up and taken to the charity garden centre with a lot of other plants we shall be digging out. We've taken five car loads up there in the last month. :phew:

I tend to move from one bed to another just for a break and so I've continued to work in this bed
              P1530616.JPG

I only do one hour at a time of digging and bending work :old:

Thanks. :) As we are no longer able to do a whole day's gardening we need to try and do something every day despite the weather. Unlike most of our neighbours our garden has got more complicated every year instead of planning to make it easier. We're gluttons for punishment :heehee:

We're certainly not making things more complicated any more. :blue thumb: We're removing a lot of the plants (going to the charity garden centre) and replacing them with things that take less work. There will still be lots to do and we realise we shall need more help in the future. We have someone come in to do heavy work about once a fortnight. I no longer do hedging, heavy digging and anything that needs leaning forward whilst bending down. I can do the weeding OK if I'm able to stand over it but the weeding needed to be done under the shrubs and perennials I leave to him. :)

Definitely agree with @Logan ...you seem to be always out there having to undertake some pretty big jobs!
I had to give myself a serious talking to last year and rethink about our garden maintenance. Even after I've had my surgery I want to go back and keep to my original reasons for gardening....my love for it, relaxation and enjoyment of being surrounded by beauty and nature.......I don't want it to become 'chore'.:hapflowers2:

I planned my garden for the future ... and the future arrived unexpectedly! I had hired a gardener for the heavy work some years ago, first Andy now Ben, which leaves the light work and pots.

@shiney at least you're getting there. We might have to do the same thing, hubby finds it a bit more difficult to prune trees and the hedge.

I don't find it a chore because I enjoy it so much, in the fresh air and surrounded by bird song. It's just that with the amount of garden we have we shall eventually need more help than we currently do.

I need to get out there anyway as I'm not able to sit for long. I had planned on having even more exploring holidays but that is unlikely to happen at the moment. I can't do 'relaxing' holidays and have to be up and around most of the time. I'm still planning on going exploring for my 100th birthday :old: :heehee:
