    Hi, All,

What are your views on Soaker Hoses verses Irrigation Drip Systems? I've no views, as I haven't used them. I want to put in place a water system to water my large raised beds and wondering which way to go for the best, because I suspect you have to consider lifting it for the winter as well?

    Any advice would be helpful.

I just use the ole hose and watering can method. I'd be a little sceptical that leaving a hose in the ground, wouldn't get munched by Mr Rattie, should he decide to drop in.

I have a black rubber soaker hose in my new border which is furthest from the tap.
It's simply draped around what needs it most and works on a timer which I just switch on for 15 mins or so on days without rain.
It's really helped the newly planted roses and shrubs to establish and saves me time and effort.
For the rest of the garden I use watering can as needed, but don't do a lot of watering unless it gets very dry.
Greenhouse is also by watering can, but I'm considering an automatic system in there for next season as will be busy with baby.

Forgot to say, hose is really easy to lift and store in Autumn.

I have no outside tap atm so have to pinch my neighbours and either water like that or make feeds up in a 10L watering can and then leave the hose in a trug to fill as I use the watering can.. so much effort and takes me a good hour, even 2 if I'm watering next doors pots. Would love a soaker hose if I ever get borders in but would look wrong attached to the front of the house for the pots ha!
