I didn't do anything apart from breakup some hot cross buns for the birds. Came in from the cold pretty sharpish for a cuppa. It's brassic out there.

It's still to boggy to work in the garden but I checked out my lavender cuttings to see if they've rooted in pots. I'm disappointed for the second year running, only eight have taken out of twenty two so it's back to the reliable way for the next lot......water!

Sowed the soaked sweetpeas today. All expanded except three 'Almost Black' which I chipped and are now expanding. I know mid-Jan is late or early to be doing this but guessing that's mainly to do with the heat to get them germinating which won't be a problem with the propagator.

Funnily enough, one of them already had its root coming through by this morning. Flower power!

Mr. Wind is out today, blowing the leaves away. Still some remain to my dismay. Less cold days will have my way to find the leaves that want to stay. Using tarp and rake we scrape and take those loyal leaves to compost royal.

Had a chap in to take down two trees so have been out tidying up a bit afterwards and figuring out what to do with the big bare spot left in the lawn. Just flattened the soil for the time being, not sure how it will end up, but will probably just grass it over, will give it a week or two before I decide for sure. Think this is the last big job finished in the garden (famous last words!).

Transplanted a big cistus which had grown to 3 feet and which hadn't looked right at the front of a border for a couple of years, they don't transplant well so fingers crossed I haven't killed it.

Sorted out the potted-up perennials (got tons from divisions when renovating one of the borders in the autumn).

                              GG
