I don't think it will make a lot of difference Jack when it's pruned. I pruned in October because most of the leaves had been ripped off by wind anyway. Yes, mine has had new buds on for some while. I'll take a picture of it in the next couple of days, weather permitting!

Yes it looks okay in a pot Jack, thank you, but I'm wondering how quickly it will become pot bound, the roots grow almost as rapidly as the crown of the plant.

Even as a first year plant mine produced flowers, I'll see how it performs this year after quite a heavy pruning.

Big fox in the garden just now trampling over the border. I'd wondered why some plants were knocked over  not had one of these in our garden for a few years now.

The winter weather here puts a stop to doing any work in the garden. Even so, I have been in there today, checking for storm damage. I was pleased to see that there are buds on my Magnolia. Its not even been in there a year yet, so I think it to be pretty amazing. I must be doing something right, I had not expected any for at least a couple of years.

We're cloudy and mild - about 38f. But still too chill to be outside for long. Besides, the ground is still frozen solid and will be for another 2 months at minimum.

Need to get some things done in the greenhouse but think I will wait for thursday or friday. They are supposed to be extremely cold days but very sunny and as we all know, a greenhouse gets quite toasty in the sun. In the meantime I will get my dremel working on some metal parts that I need to retrofit for use in the greenhouse.

My first venture into the garden today after three months of foul weather. :doh:I scrubbed out a large pot which I'm giving to a good friend of mine. :)

Well with spring literally around the corner I've made a start revamping and digging over the veg patch ready for this years crops. Surprisingly given the amount of rain we've had of late the soil wasn't too sodden :)

I also removed an old dying and rotten ceanothus hedge which ran along side the veg patch, that's being replaced with a fence and a strip of wildlflowers and a couple of native shrubs :)

I moved 1800 kgs of compost from the front drive to the back garden raised beds... one slow and heavy wheelbarrow at a time. I'm exhausted now!

Hmm, considering the wet, windy, blustery weather ...

... I fed and watered the chooks (they, at least, had the common sense to huddle together in their coop!), poop scooped the garden (thanks Oz, mate!) noticed the Bowles Mauve I took a cutting from almost 2 years ago is showing signs of a flower head forming, did little more than pull a weed or three. I'm sure that was helpful ... in the long run :heehee:

Didn't get much done today, but I did sow a couple of trays of early seeds in the heated propagator, celeriac for the veg garden and Gazanias for the flower garden.

                        Snap to the celeriac :)

I also had a little stroll and can see some of the Tulips are coming up now.

Cleaned up some of the soil in my temporary potting hq.

                          And that was all.

Today i planted 2 pomegranate trees, young uns about 2m high and a holly bush. It's been pretty frosty in the morning, this passed week, so i hope it doesn't affect them...that's what they said at the garden center  I have 6 Ivy plants in pots waiting to go in the soil but i think i will wait till the frosty period is over.
