It's not advised to add domestic animal waste to the compost heap. Some people take the risk though.
Must post pictures of that :heehee:

If it stops raining, and dries out I can cut the grass on Sunday. have to rake out some dead stuff etc. buy some mums to make the front look pretty, maybe a few pumpkins etc. I did plant some hardy geraniums in the stumps out front so they will take over the area. have pruning to do if not dry enough.

        - Planted up the second windowbox/trough, then discovered two packets of yellow hyacinths I'd misplaced  Decided they could go in the window boxes instead of Tete a Tete :blue thumb:
        - Transplanted some self sown sweet William seedlings.
        - Lawn mowed
        - Rediscovered some allium bulbs and planted those into a pot, putting them into a sunny corner
        - Washed out the plastic gardening flexi-trugs (brilliant things!)
        - Threw away all the assorted packets, bags and other rubbish which has a tendency to accumulate.
        - Mr "M" did a tip run so everything could be discarded at the same time.
        - had a cuppa and a sandwich on the patio in the afternoon sun :coffee: and flicked through October's GC magazine.
        Time has whizzed by! :phew:

I have just now had a closer look at the pink an blue asters. I wish I'd got one now. :doh:They would look nice as ground cover. I guess the disadvantage is they don't spread much. Oh well.

What a productive day you had @M :)

@Jack Sparrow I have purple ( more of a hot pink colour ), blue and white Asters in a pot. They are just so pretty:wub2: and add a nice splash of colour as other stuff is fading. Good for the Bees and Flutterbys too. I'm glad I bought mine.

Weather has been :rain: and :rain: with strong winds and more :rain: so not much gardening done. I did dig up and pot a piece of pink Scabious to give to someone who doesn't have them in her garden. I planted a Blue Scabious in one of the baths during the summer. I've tried Scabious out the front before and it wouldn't grow, but thought I'd give it another go in a different location, more sheltered. Still won't grow. So, dug up a pile of sad looking leaves and stuck it into a pot. The root looked ok, so I'm hoping it may recover now its been trimmed and moved indoors for awhile. I'm disappointed it won't grow in the front garden as had an idea it would look good planted with a few other things amongst the trees. It does fine in pots or soil in back and side gardens.

Had wonderful walk in beach during a break in the weather. Wind dropped, sun came out. Stood watching two Seals through the binoculars :hapydancsmil:

Like Lucius- not got any main gardening done cos of the dire weather :rain::rain::rain:
did get in me potting shed and did a few more cuttings of scented hardy pinks, Salvia"Blue Angel"
and for the first time some Begonia its the only Begonia I have ever bought ...and thats cos I felt awful mean leaving it on the shelf ....as I bought the last bulbs of Narcissus, Tulips, Alliums and Crocus and the packet of corms were just sat there ....looking so forlorn on the wide empty shelf :frown: it was to be gifted friend or charity ...well that was my plan :)... but on closer inspection I discovered it was not only scented but reputed to be pollinator friendly  ...so I thought I'd give it a go that was two years ago now...and boy do I await its arrival IT IS BEEutiful the scent is equisite and it permeates my GH where i have it in a hanging basket and the garden surrounding the GH......I have tried to buy more corms as i LUV her sooo much :wub2: -but have only seen it offered online at a high price and no guarantee that im buying high-quality corms :th scifD36: Im one of these folk unless it comes from a recommended source I like to see handle what im purchasing  ....so i thought right... it was to be gifted ...so i do feel rather unchristian ...so the next best thing is propagation :ideaIPB:... I have taken stem and leaf cuttings and also popped some cuttings in water in the hope of them growing roots ...gonna take some more today in an even grittier soil mix as im concerned with them dampening off :fingers crossed:

Tied some sunflower heads onto the willow outside the van window. Be interesting to see which birdies like em :)

Dobbies still have those asters in 11cm pots for £1. The pink and blue look almost the same. They also have aster island for £4. I said I wasn't going anymore flowers but I still have some large pots available.

The ones I was looking at online were alpine asters and therefore smaller. Perhaps I ought to measure the space.

I forgot I had two of these characters at the front that take 10cm pots. They have been empty all summer. The baby aster pots would be ok there for now.next summer I would have to find them somewhere big enough to mature properly.

I thought about one instead of ground cover between my barrel and my two guems. I have had a measure and although it would fit I think the height might be too imposing. The alpine variety would probably look better.
