Let's not get int a discussion about the different definitions of a rubber and an eraser.

I wonder if our North American friends know the difference between a buffalo and bison?

A bison is the one with the taps.

We've got quite a bit done in the last couple of days.

Done some planting in the area where we removed the giant Viburnum and dug out 80sq ft of ivy that was underneath. This is just a bit of it.
      P1410586.JPG

Pruned eight of the apple trees (somewhere between 70 and 100 years old)

      P1410613.JPG

      P1410618.JPG

Reduced this Corylus contorta by about 3ft all round
      P1410589.JPG

Reshaped and gave Fido a haircut
      P1410598.JPG

Started on shaping some of the conifers - after checking that there were no new nests in this one (blackbirds and robins share the tree)
      P1410602.JPG

Dug and weeded some of the long beds by the veg plot
      P1410605.JPG

      P1410606.JPG

Dug and weeded (carefully :hate-shocked:) four of these blackberry beds
      P1410607.JPG

Started on some different type of hanging baskets. We're aiming at having them as herb and trailing flower baskets. Only just started planting four of them. We'll see how they look to see whether we think they will be sellers.

Our local professional nursery are quite good with supplying us with labels for the plants we propagate - if they have them. They consider it part of their charitable donation. They also sell us plants cheaply. :dbgrtmb:

Dug out a load of Iris sibirica for potting up and selling.

Very Nice @shiney! now I feel like a lazy lout ...

My intravenous feeding is working out well. I've got the fertilizer on a slow drip. :) you should have seen the Nurse's face when I asked for the empty unit sans pointy bits . I figure the unit will need refilling about every two weeks or so :)

Picking up debris, cutting up two branches that came down last night and then we'll see.

I'm glad we have some variances and you know, we Canucks are pretty tolerant. We just let comments telling us that we are wrong, slide off and correcting other adults is considered tres gauche over here. One upmanship is rarely found in day to day life and bragging is a sign of low class. So very different! Experiencing various cultures always make things interesting :)

Weather against me today but did feed my Rhubarb and gave them a good mulch of manure. This brings back yet another memory of my late father (we always gardened together).
Every year from being a child when I fed and manured my Rhubarb he'd say "Oh you put manure on yours do you,I prefer custard on mine".The old ones are the best.

It's very rainy and windy so mostly indoors stuff this weekend- sorting out seedlings on the windowsills, watering and showering houseplants, browsing seed catalogue, convincing the tea mad Teenager that she wants to grow Lemon Balm, ordering the said Lemon Balm seeds and a dozen of impulse purchases... as usual

Birdwatching is now getting very interesting. Apparently our left hand side fence has turned into a bird red light district, with various species flaunting their wares in turns. Wood pidgeons are trying to sort out a love triangle, whilst Mr and Mrs Robin are quite unashamedly loving each other very much right in the middle of the fence. [IMG]

Today has been mainly sunny but very cold due to strong north westerly wind. Had a rather bracing walk on the beach this morning followed by quick visit to hardware store, where I purchased 1 bag manure, 2 bottles of liquid seaweed and 3 pots of Hellebores. Went out into the garden this afternoon and within half an hour the sun had vanished, the wind increased to gale force strength and the it started hailstoning. At which point I decided that the sofa in a warm conservatory with coffee and chocolate biscuits was where I should be :heehee:. I did manage to plant one of the Hellebores, replace some of the compost in one of the baths with fresh and rearrange/redesign the planting in the bath.
