I have bought young trees from them in the past - an interesting nursery to visit because (as you say) they are a proper place that care what they sell. Sadly I have had to leave the lovely cornus Eddie's White Wonder that I bought from them back in my previous garden. Fortunately I now have another 'proper' nursery near me - though I will have to restrain myself until I have dug over my new borders and got out all the bricks.
Today I limited myself to watering the greenhouse and contemplating insulation. The greenhouse has big panes but diagonal braces that will get in the way of the insulation boards I planned to put at the bottom sections...

I've got a feeling, Caroline, that I won't be able to restrain myself when I visit them and will come away with a few plants of some kind.:wallbanging::dunno::heehee::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

@ARMANDII your recent posts of purchases suggest that you and restraint are not close friends...:spinning::yes:

Well, today I did just a small amount of gardening, as I had a heron to draw...!

I spent a lovely 30 mins or so planting lots and lots and Lots! of iris sections in the sandy soil at the top of the garden. Hopefully they will settle in well, and give me lots of pleasure next year. Thank you again, @ARMANDII !

I also planted some autumn cyclamen and wallflowers in the wooden barrels on either side of the front door, a couple of alpine pinks, as well as a deep purple carnation that we lifted from my late mother-in-law’s garden. Hopefully it will accept the move, and do well for us. I’ve also got some cuttings of the fuchsia and salvia, as well as a few roots of Japanese anemone, that I’m hoping to bring through the winter.

You're more than welcome, Sian:love30: They should settle in nicely under the eyes of a person who loves her garden. I have another 60-70 if you want any more!!!:hate-shocked::whistle::heehee::loll::lunapic 130165696578242 5: I'm glad they survived the extended stay in the UK and my condolences about your Mother-in-Law. The Iris should give you a lovely display once they're established, so let me know how they get on.

When I got back from my weekly shop I found two packages waiting for me. They were the main part of my ordered different varieties of Alliums and Fritillarias. I've had literally hundreds of parcels of plants before, but I have to say these were the best packed I've ever seen. The boxes were sturdy, with ventilation holes in the side and the bulbs were in strong brown paper bags, all marked with the names of the bulbs, even the invoices were put neatly in envelopes with advice on how to plant them.
I've still got another order of Alliums to come, along with 3 Patty's Plum Poppies, and three Ferns which should arrive tomorrow or Saturday with luck. and that's should be it. I have to confess I bought 4 large flowered Cyclamen and 3 Cacti, of a variety I haven't got.......but that's it for the year.!
I've put the long metal table, I was going to put outside in the side passage for use when potting plants. in the Green House for the same use. I'll be grow some (5) Tomato plants next year, but not the usual 15 to 20 plants that I normally grow, so I can use some of the resulting space for other jobs, I keep kidding myself that Spring is just around the corner but just to help convince myself I have to have a glass or two of the "Golden Amber" .:cat-kittyandsmiley::heehee:

:rain::rain::rain: and lots of it these past few weeks. Tipping down at the moment. Although I am very glad of it my gardening activities have been put on hold because of it. Not had much spare time anyway as trying to get arty stuff ready for xmas. Having failed to find a suitable brush on varnish as a replacement for the Decopatch I'm now experimenting with resin. Like the effects much better than the varnish but need to practice to get it perfect.

Having said all of the above yesterday was overcast but dry. I decided I needed a break from art and debated a walk on the beach versus gardening. The latter won. I got the strimmer out and had a go at some of the grass in the side garden and one of the rabbit runs. It has grown very long and was rather wet. I like to keep some of the grass short and some of it long for the wildlife but the short bit matched the long bit. Took me a couple of hours to cut it and the strimmer decided to go bang just before I would have been finished. I also cut back two Fuschias in pots and swept part of the pathway. Need to buy a new strimmer.

                        Hi,

Our Michelin Cross Climate tyres are left on the car all year Snorky hence the name Cross Climate; saves having to keep changing from winter to summer tyres. Five years ago we owned a Toyota Aygo and bought a pair of Avon Ice touring winter tyres and two second hand wheels; it was then easy to swap wheels; we don't travel far in icy conditions but these Avon tyres were absolutely marvelous; they should be fitted all round but we tried them on the front driving wheels only; nearby we have a very steep lane and this was littered both sides by abandoned vehicles; with the Avon's fitted the little Aygo went up and came down the lane as if it was a summer's day to the amazement of the now pedestrians. Since fitting the Michelin's they haven't yet been tested in icy/snow driving; perhaps this coming winter will see them used in anger. "snow plough"

wiseowl; wow I could move in there. :wow: :grphg:

                        Kind regards, Colin.
