Yesterday was nice and sunny so I continued digging out dock. As a fair amount of it is growing in the bed amongst the irises, crocosmia and other plants, it was a difficult job. I'm gradually getting on top of it. :phew: This is the bed I'm working on

@shiney Do you have to have a license to plant on the verge? We did in Bucks and, although we did, a witch of a neighbour whose back gate came onto our lane created havoc ... which led to Court action and mucho money on our part! :gaah:

Naaah, that recipe is completely wrong, forget the Honey and Lemon.........it's just several tumblers of the Golden Amber, and you'll forget you've even got a throat:dunno::thumbsup::heehee:

                      PS: Get well soon.:love30:

I didn't need a licence as I was, in those days, able to claim under 'adverse possession'. I had been maintaining it for well over twenty years when the council decided to query it. I think the law has changed since then. We did have another part of the verge that we let them reclaim, but we had an ulterior motive.

From somewhere in the bowles of the earth a mystitic voice was heard.

Lazy git. By this time you could have made some cider, some apple crumbles and loads more. Just joking.

I planted out about 30 foxgloves, mainly in the front verge where I've been weeding. That got rid of three more trays from the nursery areas.

Then we raked another 10 cubic feet of leaves - about the most my arms and back will let me do in one go.

                              Filled the bird feeders again.

@Mike Allen I've now frozen about 20 apple crumbles :blue thumb:. Friends have taken most of the smaller apples to make cider and apple juice, leaving some for another friend's horses. After that I picked up another 20lb of windfalls.

I dragged the cut down boughs of my Acer Brilliantissimum to the car along with 4 large sacks of twigs and Clematis Armandii jungle like creepers, squeezed them into the back of my Ford Focus and drove the the Dump which is less than half a mile away from me. They're a friendly bunch and will give help where needed, although I didn't need any but they will chat to you quite happily.
I now need to scrub down the stone bench that was being over shadowed by the tree before I cut the boughs off thereby raising the "skirt" of the tree. The bench had become covered in moss and green slime making it impossible to sit down on, and it is one of my favourite stops when ambling around the garden so it needs to be done.
The West border is mostly Shrubs, Ferns, and lots of Helleborus and needs sorting out, especially as I found I had two more Hydrangeas than I thought I had! One of my 40 year old Buddleja has become massive, although very good for the huge number of Buttflies we had this year, because I was ill this year when it wanted pruning. So I will have to use the Hedge Trimmer to cut down the stems until I can get to the inner stems where I can give it a normal prune reading for the coming Spring and Summer and, hopefully, another huge number of Butterflies that is "the cream on the cake" of Summer:hapydancsmil::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:
