I've just raked another load of leaves and done some mowing.

I suppose I shouldn't call it mowing the lawn as that implies it is grass. There is still some grass, but not a lot!

These leaves I mowed as they were stuck to the ground

    Some tiny mushrooms were growing

These leaves are dropping and will need to be raked tomorrow

And a bit of fresh colour coming

@wiseowl they look pretty in the slammer. Are they together or are they in solitary. ...

I only traced a wiring issue in one greenhouse. Looks like a wire got chewed. :noidea: I'll have to go out there tomorrow to fix it as we are expecting some sunshine so it might be a little more pleasant working then than in the present cloudy 22f conditions.

Good morning @CanadianLori my friend they are together they are a flock bird naturally and it would be against nature to keep them solitary, they will be in the large flight when first light arrives as it was to late yesterday (Darkness)to put them in the flight, they wouldn't know where the food and water were;)

Today we are going to have to try and move about 500, or more, plants from one of our paved nursery areas to other spots. That area is under a big willow tree and the plants are now covered in leaves. We shall have to remove the leaves and then transfer them over. Not one of the better jobs for my back.

It stopped raining for a minute so I ran out to rip out the Cosmos. Obviously I have again forgotten the brown bin day so it was a bit of a struggle to get that mass of Cosmos in. I know how Peter Higgs must feel :heehee:

In their place I planted the last Daffs and Buddleya which turned out to be the real thing rather than the Nanho type I was imagining of buying. I have three of the dwarf type, they are great but I wanted a white one, so bought one from Amazon without reading the small print, or description, or name for that matter...

Obviously it doesn't fit into the spot I had planned for the Nanho, so after some head scratching it went into the front side border where I was actually planning to plant the white Foxgloves I impulse sew in August. They decided to germinate very, very well so now I have around 50 healthy looking Foxglove babies and no place for them. Clearly "careful planning" is not my strongest points. :noidea:

Boxed the Dahlia tubers I dag up over a week ago, they haven't dried a bit in this endless rain and humidity. I'll have to check on them later on, but at least they are now frost safe should we get any.

Sparrows are back! I counted over 40 swarming over my feeding station. "Sparrow numbers are in dramatic decline"- rubbish, they just happen to be in my back garden :heehee:

Now it's time for some lovely soup, beans and bacon methinks. :)

I think that's a bit of late news, Selleri:dunno:, as although they were in a decline over the last 10 years they have come back fantastically:hapydancsmil:. I love them as they're always chattering in a large flock, and on the feeders, in the trees and the climbing roses by the pond. There's also, in my area, been a decline in the Blackbirds, (one of my favourite birds), but they seem to be slowly growing in numbers. :cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Rain has stopped play in the garden today:noidea::gaah: I had wanted to plant the first of the groups of Alliums in the "walk around " border and then get the Hedge Trimmer out to cut back the 22' Jasmine and Clematis border along the wildlife pond.......but that now should happen tomorrow, if the weather forecast is right and we have a dry day.
So, out of curiousity, I checked each of the around 250 Alliums waiting to be planted and came up with 4 offsets of Allium Forelock and 9 offsets of Allium Summer Drummer:yes:. After a Mug of Tea, I dodged the raindrops and went into the Green House after deciding to pot up the offsets. There's always a bucket of a mixture of compost, sand, and potting grit in the Green House for just this occasion, so I happily potted up the offsets while listening to the rain pattering on the Green House roof. There's a 9' long metal table in the Green House originally meant as a Decorating Table but after it sitting in it's box for several months I decided to use it as a potting on and holding station for the new pots of plants which sit in long shallow trays meant for holding Tomato plants in compost bags. So, at the moment, everything is reasonably organised in the Green House. I moved all the Cactic back into the Green House back in September so they are sitting comfortably on the wooden table on the other side of the Green House until next year. So, if it's a dry day tomorrow, it's full steam ahead to plant the Alliums and then cut back the Jasmine/Clematis hedge along with any other job in the garden that pops up as you're doing another.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

I've started on tidying and moving the plants from the nursery area under the willow. It's a good area to keep them during the summer as they're protected from the hot drying sun but this time of the year it's a big nuisance. I suppose it would have been better moving them before the leaves started falling :ideaIPB:

I moved this lot this morning, it has been nice and sunny all day, and I guess there were about 600 of them

With a bit of luck I shall clean up and move these in the next few days

This lot have been kept under cover in the car port so are OK

Got these Liriopes ready to split again, pot up and sell. All ordered for the beginning of the week.

I also picked up some more windfalls. These are from the two Autumn developing Edward VII cookers. I've already picked up about 200lb of them in the last month. The smaller ones go to friends for juicing and we cook down and freeze the others.

                              Today's batch

Got a bit more done today in the rain this morning but stopped after dinner, dug up some unwanted aquilegia and moved the hellebore there I've just dug up earlier , going to replace the hellebore with a different variety it were in prime location so want a really nice one. Also dug out the crocosmia Lucifer which were stopping the view up the garden .

Moved a veronicastrum and a rudbeckia GStrum round . Also remove perovskia blue spire I just don't think its suitable for where I want it in this garden unfortunately  At least the robin happy with all this digging.

Made the shredding pile bigger for the compost heap
Collected some seeds :) angelica gigas and verbena not sure how the verbena will do.

Still hardly planted out any bulbs

Also been round to mums and lifted her dahlias and planted some hellebores / primulas primrose and a bit of weeding.
