It's raining here in Cheshire so I might shelter in the Green House and sow some more Sweetpeas.:dunno::heehee:

I planted up two pots for winter decoration using some small plants recently purchased, and put them by the front door.

One pot has Gaultheria, Euonymus, Winter Viola, Ivy and Crocuses ...

The other pot has Cineraria Dusty Miller, Ajuga, Cyclamen coum, Winter Viola, Ivy and Crocuses ...

      DSCF4399.jpg

They may look a bit scruffy at the moment but after the plants get settled in I don't suppose they'll look too bad.

haven't done a lot today. Pulled out, from our wild garden, two very large tubs full of moss for Mrs Shiney to use for the Christmas wreaths that have been ordered, carried a 50litre bag of compost to the greenhouse (about all my back would let me) and filled a giant bucket with weeds from where I have started clearing a flower bed near the shed.

Jet washing...just did this section but I'm pooped. Put a few little lights up at the gate...waiting for the nasty neighbours to complain. Inside now warming up.

Well.......I nearly got round to planting out my bulbs....:fingers crossed: tomorrow.;)

Hubs and I cleaned and swept the lane outside our house, we seem to be the only house in our entire lane ( only 6:heehee:) that all the leaves have decided to use as a place to gather!!:autlvs: Have they not heard about social distancing!!!!:nonofinger:

Carried out a health check on all our over wintering plants, one by one they were given a close inspection for critters...none found :)
and rewarded with a very light watering.

Enjoyed a mid afternoon tea break in the garden , the sun was actually quite warm!!

I've got all the bulbs out and ready for their big day tomorrow...haven't checked out the forecast yet so hope it will be a good day.
As usual I haven't got the foggiest idea which bulbs are which, I thought I had written their names on the paper bags.....but I hadn't:sad: I'll plant them all and wait to be surprised come the Spring!:biggrin:

It's still damp everywhere in the garden but, as the jobs seem to be mounting up, I put my mucky gardening clothes on and decided to do a few jobs.
I cut back the Clematis on the Trellis Entrance to the garden back by a couple of feet,
as every time I passed through it the Clematis, which was hanging down like Jungle Creepers, were grasping at my Hat and Specs as well as circling around my face and throat:gaah:
I moved back, to their original place, the Flag Stones that I laid on the "Walk Around" Border so that the Porter's Trolley would not sink into the soil when I was moving the Stone Plinth from the Patio to it's final site into the middle of the border. I'd also had to take out about 25' of Sandstone edging on the West side of the central path as it was too narrow for the Porter's Trolley when I was moving the Plinth, so I got down my knees again:old: and using a Trowel scooped out a trench for them to go back in. Some of the stone edging must weigh around 10lbs a piece so I had to watch that I didn't catch my fingers. The path needs a good sweep but it's too damp to do it properly at the moment so that job will have to wait.
I had a delivery of 250 mixed Crocus yesterday, so they are now in the Green House where they'll stay until Wednesday when I'll plant them along the edging of the lawn ready for a, hopefully, good showing in Spring.
I looked on the Dry Wipe Board in the Green House at the list of jobs to still to do and decided they were all a "to be done soon, but not today jobs" and headed for the House and a Mug of Tea.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

I see you're still hanging onto the sunshine. :nonofinger: Very drear and damp here - but no rain.
                              P1500272.JPG

On Friday we cut down and dug out some of the 67 year old privet
                              P1500246.JPG

And I pressure washed all the green algae and dirt that was on the fence behind it and Mrs Shiney does the painting job.
                              P1500247.JPG

Whilst the pressure washer was out I then cleaned up this area that runs off from the privet
                              P1500245.JPG

The cut down privet was lugged all the way down to the bonfire
                              P1500249.JPG

And the dug out stumps (really tough job - but not done by me :old:) also went on there

                              P1500251.JPG

Still continuing to put leaves on the compost heaps (these are three of our five heaps in this part of the garden)
                              P1500252.JPG

Continued weeding (perennial weeds, forget-me-nots, brambles, wild garlic etc.) This is also a Dahlia bed where we leave the corms in (and the rabbits dig them out :wallbanging:)
                              P1500248.JPG

Cut back half of this as it seems to have given up the ghost. I'll cut back the rest and then get someone to dig it out.
