what to plant in shade

    the front of my house is north facing and gets most of the sun but on the left hand side is a fence which doesn,t give any light through its a neighbours fence so cant move it anybody got any ideas as to what plants i can put there ie colour etc also the lawn gets mossy there as well

    Hostas are nice plants and come in a varity of leaf colours and textures (slugs and snails love em though)

    If its really shady, then maybe ferns

    There are special seed mixes for shady lawns but you will need to kill/rake out the moss first before applying them. Any good garden centre sells them.

    As for shade plants just type 'plants for shade' into google and click UK only and images. You will be amazed! There are lots of specialist nurseries out there - some even do mail order.
