Would that be two fingers longk?
The seed pods from last years flowers appear to be "saluting" you, they then open to form a mass of fluff.
This is a different one to jenny's,

It spent last winter outside in its pot, with the same protection as the bougie and strelitzia.

I'm sure it would take frost free g/h conditions very easily.
It would need cutting back after the summer.

It is also Tricyrtis season. Not strictly exotic, but if you're after a hardy flowering plant for an exotic scheme there's nothing better IMO. They flower later in the season and tend to like partial of full shade depending on the species.

Mine are looking good too ... I also have Galtonia viridiflora but the flowers are very green (well Doh! obviously from the name!) but they exactly match the stem colour and I think are a rather nothing-plant. Unfortunately far more of the G. viridiflora have got to maturity size, from the seed I sowed, than G. candicans ... Ho!Hum!

I'm pretty sure I don't ... looked at them in flower two seasons running now and don't think they are earning their keep. I'll dig em up in the Autumn and stick them in the post ... remind me if I forget pls? :)
