                the wild hellebores are in full bloom now They are really pretty and quite big. but seem to spread fast. we never planted them.
                I think they must be drought tolerant.

                        I planted a few purple crocuses around the dwarf palm in a lead urn on my patio a couple of years ago - not much space or soil but they seem to like it there, multiplying every year. The flowers are just appearing, later than usual because of the cold weather. I like the fact that a fern and some flowering mosses have arrived too, turning it into a sort of miniature garden:

                        The sweet box has grown a lot in the last year and will need cutting back after flowering. The flowers smell very sweet meanwhile - though the scent does always remind me rather of old-fashioned silver polish:

                        This white periwinkle was acquired as a cutting and has proved very useful as cover on a rubble bank where nothing much else wants to grow. It makes a good long-lasting cut flower too, and so far at least hasn't been too hard to keep in check:
