Celebrated some of these flowers last month (or even earlier) but they're still looking good in August so I'm still taking pictures (on rare still days).

Not so much looking good but interesting ....... a part of my Acer has decided to go into autumn mode with foliage turning a distinct orange and red :thud:. Forward thinking or ominous?

I think your hot, dry weather has probably caused that @Plantminded . Sun/wind on the most exposed foliage. Trees here are just starting to turn - some yellow tints are visible on lots of them, but that's normal for here.
I'm having a lot of trouble with the photo editor on the laptop, and it's frustrating, so I've not been posting many pix.
I think the water lilies have been enjoying the much higher temps - never been so many flowers on them! I get this view when sitting on the bench under the new pergola. Whites are always difficult to photograph sharply with my camera though
                  113_0034 (3).JPG

The self seeded Nasturtiums are doing their thing constantly. This is Tip Top Mahogany, and the colour is accurate in that pic. It's a very good dark one.
                  113_0036 (2).JPG

This pic os from Sunday, and the Centaurea/Knapweed has been attracting all the wasps for a while - I have to be careful when deadheading it! I think it's C. Jordy, but can't remember. The white Liatris is flowering well now.
These were lifted and put back into this new border as I revamped it in spring, making it lower. They've all done well. There's Astrantias in there too, but out of view.

Mahonia gracilipes a Chinese mahonia with a white underside to the leaves, every year there are several leaves folded back to show the underside a bit like a dog with one floppy ear.

Colletia hystrix as can be seen a rather spikey shrub pro it's evergreen, late summer it produces two flushes of small well scented creamy white flowers, pollinators love it. Cons plate armour and gauntlets for pruning. Should be grown more .

Yes, I think you're right @fairygirl. It's quite dry in that border even though I occasionally water the Hakonechloa beneath the tree. I like your Nasturtium, a good bold colour :blue thumb:.

Lovely photos, everyone! :dbgrtmb: That Thalictrum looks stunning against the black background, @LunarSea.

I would just like to give an August shout-out for Caryopteris plants. They are not the most photogenic (... and I am no David Bailey), but here is mine. Such delicate flowers in profusion, a lovely shade of mauve, and adored by the bees. This one is quite elderly now, so not as densely branched as it used to be, but still one of my favourite plants at this time of yr, quietly doing its thing

They are quite short-lived shrubs usually, I think, @Michael Hewett. I've had a couple that didn't do well, but this one (Worcester Gold) seems more easy going. The leaves are yellowy in full sun, but a very pretty lime in part shade. It is prone to capsid bug damage.
