I've got a feeling, M, that you have a deep knowledge, quiet love, and sharp eye for Nature and what goes on in your garden that is left unsaid.:love30::thumbsup:

A welcome unexpected visitor in the form of a single bell flower and a happy little Chamaerops Vulcano in the February sun. Must be the mild Devon winter (but best not speak too soon)...

The sweet box by the front garden gate is smelling sweet this afternoon in the sunshine.
The first year after 6 years of struggling that it has come forward to display itself.
            Very pleased with it,

And the first daffodil of the year has opened - "Jack Snipe". I've discovered we've not got any snowdrops in this garden so that's something to rectify for next year.

Some of our small Narcissi have been flowering for weeks but the big daffs aren't in flower yet.

It's the reverse with the snowdrops. The tall snowdrops have been flowering for a month but some of the tiny singles are only just trying to flower. Some of the double snowdrops have been in flower for a couple of weeks.

                              A question about snowdrops:-

We have lots of bunches (dozens) of them but haven't split any for a few years. We've been discovering lots of them are now lying loose on the surface . Would this be young ones that have nowhere to root in because of overcrowding, dug out by the birds or do they naturally come to the surface?

I've noticed some small bulbs doing the same here @shiney and I wonder if they're self seeded ones maybe it's because they're not deep enough in the first place, and push themselves out of the ground as the roots grow down.
Maybe someone will come up with a better reply
