How about a row of small plants in pots all the way round the bottom edge of the roof. You could attach them with Velcro and turn the roof when they need watering.

                    and
It is around this time of year that the pseudobulbs are available in GC's. Remember, the main "bulb" is dead. It is the small babes that are being produced as offsets that you are really buying so no offset means don't buy!

My snowdrops have been coming up in drips and drabs since early January. I think that in mild winters micro climate becomes important. In colder winters they tend to come out close together.
The crocuses are less affected by the mild winter and are appearing enmasse although some weeks earlier than typical.

Sorry, these photos aren't focussed very well

The pansies are a bit battered by the weather and some of the baskets and pots have lost about 50% of their plants.

                          P1270789.JPG

Our large sarcoccoca bushes are smothered in flowers and berries this winter and the scent is very heady

The Exochordas have been flowering a little bit - completely out of season. They don't normally flower until at least April. The heavy frosts knock them back and then they start again. The seedpods are quite attractive

And the heather is brightening up the garden. It's going to need cutting back this year as it's spreading like mad.

The snowdrops aren't doing so well this year. We have lots of clumps like this, that have just come up, but our very small snowdrops (miniature types) are hardly showing and the taller types haven't shown at all. That's, also, our first daff.
