Was taken completely by surprise by this at the weekend:

... a closer look of the flowers

... the shock being, it has to be *the* most neglected pot in the whole of the UK and, despite that, it's flowered!! :thud: Well done, little green spikey plant; great work :dbgrtmb:

@Upsydaisy we're all about growing here, not necessarily knowing - if we knew it all, there wouldn't be anything to talk about :)

Here's a pic of my Whatchamacallit Purpelus  I don't often buy plants as I usually grow them from seed but this one appealed to me and the label just says "Patio Plant" Purple.JPG

Hello Lori, it's a China Aster ( Aster Callistephus ), an annual grown a lot over here for cut flowers.

I'm terrible for forgetting names of plants, Upsydaisy, even the most seen ones in my garden. If you think you're bad, I attended a presentation by the Head Gardener of a certain Hall and private garden estate garden,, in the local area, who was extremely knowledgeable about plants and how to organise and ensure that the garden was in flower during the visiting season.......but he had a terrible time remembering plants names. When he got stuck with a plant, on the screen, trying to remember it's name, I actually knew and remembered it so I whispered it and he was able to say what it was. The trouble was that after that, when he couldn't remember a name, he kept looking at me to see if I knew or remembered it.........talk about the blind leading the blind!!:heehee:

Thanks @CanadianLori ,@Zigs and @ARMANDII I don't feel quite so bad now. I really do look up to you all when you name all your plants, my garden is filled with ' the plant with no name'. And don't mention those of you who also know their Latin names as well.......... :love30::star::love30::star:

IMG_1356.JPG Lupins tucked in behind large geranium and lavendar hedge. Top lupins are over 5'. Gorgeous delphiniums should have been there too but the mini storm took down the very tall spikes :ouch1:
